RACQ have released a great article on the basic steps to take when you start thinking about buying a car. Great for first car buyers, or just to remember the basics. The wrong decision can be expensive, inconvenient, frustrating and time consuming.

The 8 points detailed in RACQ Club News are;

1. Allow plenty of time and do your homework

2. Create a budget
3. Decide what type of car you need

4. Time to start looking. If it sounds too good to be true – chances are, it is.
5. Where will you buy the car
6. Check the condition of the car

An Inbox Newsletter Gem

Subscribe to Netted, the unmissable daily e-mail introducing you to the best sites, apps and online stuff that make life better.

With all the myriad of newsletters, daily deals and other selling tools arriving in our in-boxes everyday, and what with checking our emails online, on our smart phones and other devices, it's pretty easy to lose track of important emails from friends and family, or miss the exciting stuff amongst all the fluff.

Independent find and review newsletter - Netted by the Webbys - is an awesome newsletter I receive and recommend. It often comes up with some real gems "that make life better". Awesome little apps and tools that I don't have time to find myself. I thoroughly recommend this newsletter amongst the masses of newsletters out there you can subscribe to.

One of the latest 'catches' found by Netted is Lost Photos app, which is free for Windows and $2.99 for Mac. It will hunt for and gather every photo you've ever sent or received via email, and you score a treasure trove of photos and memories you've probably long forgotten.

You can even share images with one-click on Facebook and Twitter, or import the lot to your hard drive for safe keeping.

Lost Photos supports Gmail, Yahoo!, AOL, and Apple mail accounts.

For more great finds like this, sign up for the Netted by the Webbys newsletter, and let them do the hard work of finding all the great stuff the web has to offer you!

Don't be scammed

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) website SCAMwatch and the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC) website MoneySmart both alert you to the latest scams out in the consumer world and to help you to recognise and avoid falling for one.

Quite often, once you have fallen for a scam, especially one originating from overseas, it is difficult to get your money back.

SCAMwatch provides information to consumers and small businesses about how to recognise, avoid and report scams

MoneySmart only deals with scams involving investments, superannuation, managed funds, financial advice or insurance.
